It's certainly been a year of change for me and, as the coined phrase goes, so much has happened. On the other hand, some other things have been put on the back burner - like this blog.
Quite honestly, when I realized that, before yesterday, my last manual post to this blog happened back in January I was taken back especially considering it's now December. An entire year has passed and, although every now and then I've thought about making time for News Source it simply hasn't happened. I'm thankful for automated content, feeds, and original stories and commentary that remain relevant year round. Conversely and on a more positive note, I have managed to put time into my other online columns, such as my Newsvine column, and social media platforms and, to some extent, that's indirectly kept News Source fairly relevant and updated.
To be fair, this past year has brought a lot of changes into my life with sublime highs and exhausting lows, challenges that, in hindsight, have needed to happen at this stage in my life. Change has come to pass in all aspects of my life; personal, professional, and geographical. Having spent the past 15 years living and working on Canada's west coast in Vancouver, British Columbia, I moved back home to Southern Ontario, with my family, and that alone has been and still is in many respects a huge adjustment. In 2010, we experienced the joy of bringing a new baby daughter into our lives and, after much consideration, we decided that it might be best for her to have more family in her life. We were right in that respect as being around family, interacting with grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins has been immeasurably beneficial to our daughter. However, in a lot of other respects, adjusting has been somewhat more of a challenge.
Upon returning to Southern Ontario, Sarnia to be precise, I decided that, to become more involved with the local and regional scene, I wanted to start and put time into a new blog, with a more local flavor and appeal, and the result is SarniaBuzz. This is probably another reason that I've not focused on News Source. The new blog has already gained a substantial regional following through its multifaceted social media including SarniaBuzz on Twitter, SarniaBuzz on Newsvine, and an official self-titled blog.
Presently, with the current year being in the rear-view mirror and coming to a close, I am looking forward to 2012 and putting more time into all of my online projects, but especially toward this blog. News Source is my primary platform and has been for almost five years and, on that note, I have a lot of new story and commentary ideas that will undoubtedly continue the blog's tradition of providing premium, original content.
I'd like to thank everyone that's followed my work over the years and, more specifically, this blog since its inception. It's my solemn goal to keep those who already like my work in the fold by continuing to provide more interesting, well-written content about many topics and, by the same token, I hope my future efforts will help to attract more people to my work.
